Summary
I was inspired by an unintentional prompt about how many crimes your Rook has committed - and this little story started wiggling to the surface of my brain. I haven't written in about a year, but love how this fandom and the lovely Lucanis can bring me back in for some more.
This story was initially an excuse for some flirting and smut, but as always, it's growing a big dangly plot that's becoming hard to ignore. Lucanis is tracking a target when he comes across an elf in the woods who has just dispatched several loggers. As one of them was his lead, he's weighing up whether it's worth asking if she knows anything that could help him. Turns out, she can do a whole lot more than just that.
So, lets see where it takes us!

“We can’t” she whispers in between kisses. Again and again their lips press to each other, desperate and greedy, the wet sounds almost obscene in between the pants of breath. Rook inhales deeply, her first gasp of air that he would let her have before his mouth trails to her neck and she lets her breath out in a keening whine that only makes Lucanis clutch at her harder.
This was insanity. This was wrong for so many reasons. It only made them want it more.

Lucanis is not one to feel sorry for himself, but even he can acknowledge that he has been dealt a bad hand. Being setup and left to rot in The Ossuary, coming home to see his beloved Treviso occupied by Antaam and his grandmother dead, the realities of life as an assassin and coming to terms with being an abomination...most people would fold.
It's his determination, and Spite - that keeps him going. He'll take vengeance where he can get it. What he never expected to find however, was a light in his new leader that helps him to see things differently. Rook makes him wonder if he can really live again, when all he has ever known is death.
Slowest burn I've ever written. But I keep those embers alive...while we all wait for it to finally catch fire and let the smutty flames scorch us in all the right ways.

Lucanis has given up on love long ago. On ever finding someone he could consider mate-worthy. It's not as if he's going to find it in this prison cell anyway. But everything changes the day he is freed and he meets Rook. Savior. Hero. Beautiful and her smell...it's something both he and Spite can agree is the most alluring thing in the world.

Summary
Inspired by the stories in the Minrathous papers, Bellara tries her hand at writing fiction. She asks Rook and Lucanis to read it and give feedback. The effect is...not quite what she expected.
Thus begins a long dance of two lovesick puppies using fiction initially as an excuse to spend time together. There will be awkward moments, there will be tension, there will be angst - and of course - spicy smutty times.
Spoilers pretty much the whole game and some character story arcs - trying to move through it chronologically and running this little story alongside the major events with focus on Lucanis and Rook.
Main story now complete with epilogues.

Events that transpire after Rook returns from the Fade instead of fading to black. This is a version that explores it as if Lucanis had not had a relationship or previous experiences before meeting Rook.
