The best of his routine, though, was coming home. Each day held the same reward.
He finally opened the door and the first thing he was hit with was the smell of home.
His home smelled of many things. The subtle floral scent of the freshly washed linen, or the sharp but underlying scent of ammonia. However, that scent was usually smothered by a few essential oils for the sensitive noses in the house.
And then there were the smells that Alastor couldn’t wait for. He had a sharp nose, always had, and right now? He could smell the pepper from where he stood, which meant that the food tonight was going to be rivalling the heat of Hell.
Just as he loved it.
“Honey, I’m home!” He called like always.

This was inspired from a post on Tumblr by the talented @samsapo who created a "demon housewife au" that is about a family fitting into the standards of the typical family in the 1930s to avoid suspicions (a serial killer and a demon walk into a bar-).

Donnie felt icy fear constrict his chest. A thousand scenarios of a severely injured or maimed Leo crossed his mind all at once. Oh, let him still be alive. Please, let his big brother still be alive! “Casey! I need you to calm down and talk to me! What’s the situation? Is Leo badly hurt?!”
“Leo’s a turtle!” Casey was on the verge of hysterics.
Dead silence.
Donnie's eyelid twitched. He briefly entertained a short fantasy involving his bo staff and Casey’s remaining teeth, then forced himself to take several deep breaths. Patience. He needed patience with this special boy. “Casey...” he asked in a little too kindly voice. “Just how many times did Raphael hit you in the head tonight?”
“No, I mean he’s a normal turtle now!” Casey snapped.
“Wait, Casey...” April was horrified. “Are you saying...?”
“I’m saying that I could use Leo as a hockey puck right now!"
No Leos were actually demutated in this story.

April figured it all started with a package hastily stuffed in her mailbox. It was barely small enough to fit, wrapped in that tough paper-cardboard material, and took a few careful pulls to get out. She couldn’t recall ordering anything recently, so the least she could do was try not to destroy what was most likely her neighbor’s mail. But when she flipped it over for the addressee, she was surprised to see “Mikey O’Neil” on it.
