Up until this morning, it would’ve been the truth: Mac was a beta, through and through, and endlessly annoying about it. Claiming how he was basically an alpha, how he was actually meant to be an alpha, but God made him a beta since he was simply too badass. It was a constant, eye-roll inducing nuisance, but it was the status quo, and there’d been no reason to think anything would change. Dennis was an alpha, Mac was a beta with a chip on his shoulder, constantly following in his wake, and it’d all made sense.

Was this not the purpose of Lent, to sacrifice one's self for the sake of another? To lay his pleasure upon the altar of his sacrifice, to lay himself down in sweet surrender? As much as he wanted to reach into his own pants, as much as he wanted to rub himself to completion, there was something almost poetic in the way Dennis kept him on his knees. Like a sinner knelt down to pray, like a devotee on knee in worship.

The car door is stiff, crackling like a sheet of ice as Dennis shoulders his way into opening it. His fingers are equally stiff as he fumbles with the buttons of his jacket, already feeling the invading cold creeping underneath.
“Where are you going?”
A scoff forces its way out of Dennis’ mouth. “Where do you think I'm going, Mac? We're a ten minute walk from our apartment and my legs still work.”
Mac and Dennis walk home in a snowstorm.
