'What is Grace doing, question?'
It all started with that question. Grace going back for Rocky was never going to be something he regretted. Ever.
But then — on the way to Erid, problems that had been the last thing on his mind while on the journey to save his friend arose. Like privacy.—
Grace survives the journey to Erid, and maybe finds a new home there. Rocky and Adrian have a lot of love to give, and they're very creative. But maybe they'd like others to see just how wonderful their little humans is? How well he sings? Eridians are a very curious species, after all.
Or the fic in which Grace finds out eridians are nothing like humans (duh). They are highly competitive, love playing with others and don't mind sharing. Privacy doesn't really exist on Erid other than for eating. He finds out just how much they are willing to share.

He wets his lips anxiously, putting his hands in front of him in defence. “Tom, can you, uhm, can you just tell me why you’re here, please? I’m really confused. I don’t understand why—I don’t understand what’s going on.”
Tom smiles at him, his brow creasing momentarily like he’s concerned for Grace—as though he doesn’t understand Grace’s obvious fear. “Aw, c’mon, it’s not that confusing. I’m here to take you home.” He laughs. “Well, your new home, obviously.”

Summary
Simon's only been here, Erid(wherever that is because he's not quite ready to believe its a planet yet), for about 2 months, though only 3 weeks of that has been somewhat conscious. He doesn't trust Grace or Rocky by any stretch of the word, not even sure he's convinced those are their real names. And yet, seeing the usually cheerful, compassionate, and unnervingly trusting scientist so afraid had felt like a cold dead weight in his stomach. Now Simon is wishing he'd taken to learning these aliens' language much sooner.

Some overzealous Eridians(its quite literally a cult) decide to take matters into their own hands regarding their saving grace while Simon is still recovering from the blood ocean.

Summary
The humans threw Grace away. Grace, who worked so hard to save them, who came back for Rocky when he realized the taomoeba would eat through Rocky's ship. Grace, who gave up his chance to go home to save Erid too.
And then Rocky finds out exactly how Grace ended up in space.
They're not giving him back now. Grace will always have a place on Erid where he's beloved and cherished the way he should be, even if it takes Grace a while to believe he's worth that. Rocky may or may not have plans to fix up the Hail Mary for the trip back anyways- there were a few things they wanted to say directly to Stratt's face.
