All Lance has on his mind when he gets home is the fat nap he’s going to take and the hefty dinner he’s going to eat afterward.
He does not expect Keith to be there, in his bedroom, looking very angry and mildly disturbed.
Lance doesn’t bother smothering his groan. Keith just stands there, by his closet, and watches him faceplant into his bed, unamused.“Lance,” he grits out.
“Urgh,” Lance grunts in response, tearing his mask off his face and tossing it vaguely in the direction of his nightstand.

Summary
Keith is staring. Wide-eyed, lips parted, expression pinched in a way Lance has never seen before. His eyes are locked on the gash in his side. Right.
Lance lets his head lull forward to get a good look at it, and grimaces.
The wound starts just below his ribs and tears downward toward his hip in an ugly crescent. At its widest point, it’s maybe the width of three of his fingers. The flesh is split into uneven strips, and thick, dark blood oozes from it, gluing what little remains of the tatters of Lance’s suit in the area to his skin.
Keith looks distinctly horrified by it.

Summary
Lance McClain is dying. That is the only way to explain whatever the hell is happening to him right now. He is dying of a mysterious, never-before-heard-of illness that causes him to stick to walls and rip handles off bedroom doors.
He stares at himself in the bathroom mirror, stock-still and way too careful about which parts of the room his body touches. He’s shirtless, the top he was trying to put on hanging limply from his fingertips like it’s been glued onto them, and his hair is frazzled from his anxious tugging on it. It started yesterday, this stickiness, and he is barely managing.

“Jesus Christ.” Keith shakes his head. “You are unbelievable.”
Lance slumps back in his chair, fighting the urge to roll his eyes. “Yeah, well, you’re not all that great either.”
“I should kick you out.”
Lance tenses a bit at that, eyes narrowing. “You wouldn’t.” A gamble. Keith probably, actually would.
Keith doesn’t dignify him with a response, instead turning back to his stupid book. After waiting a few moments for something else to happen—namely, getting kicked out—Lance lets himself relax. Nothing happens, and he knows he’s won their little spat, even if Keith won’t ever admit it. He bites back a self-satisfied smirk and redirects the conversation to something more civil.
“What’re you reading?”
____Or: The world has ended; Keith and Lance manage. Sort of.

“Coran, what’s happening?” Lance didn’t like how Shiro's voice shook. Was something wrong with the wormhole?
“The integrity of the wormhole has been compromised,” Coran yelled. “We’re breaking down!”
Lance sucked in a breath, eyes wide. Compromised? Breaking down? “What does that mean?!” He asked into the comms.
“It means we have no control where we’re headed!”
Oh no. Oh no no no no no no no.
After narrowly escaping the Galra, a corrupted wormhole leaves Lance stranded on the other side of the galaxy. “You’d think they’d stop sending us on away missions,” he agreed. Honestly, between the poisonous plants of their last planet, and Lance’s tendency to always end up on the business end of every blaster or pointy ended stick, Allura was just being inefficient at this point.

Summary
Lance had this problem, just sometimes, where his brain got all floaty and his hands started feeling like maybe he’d forgotten to put them on properly in the morning. Like they were backwards and inverted and everything else was upside down too. Lance's eyes slide out of focus staring at twinkling stars thousands of miles away, he lines his knuckles up in neat little rows, and he thinks too much about too many things.
Team Voltron is falling apart in little ways, and building itself up taller ten times over.It started as a joke, “You know what would suck?"
It was easier to pretend they weren't just kids fighting a war they'd never asked for, probably. "Angry edgy Not-Slav giving you CPR with his beak."
