Summary
For a while, Shane forgot how this all goes. He enjoys being with Rose, dancing with her. Finds her friends good enough company, none of them laugh at him for not wanting alcohol. It's easy to get lost in the music and the revelation that he is a hockey superhero.
And then, across the dancefloor, lit up in cyan and lilac and magenta, looking like somebody's God, Ilya Rozanov sucks some girl's tongue down his throat as he makes eye contact with Shane.
And Shane has seen this film before.

He gazes at Ilya to determine if his mind has drifted to that hotel rooftop, too. Instead, he finds blank eyes. He's watching the ice dilute his vodka like it's about to make the shot to win or lose the Stanley Cup. The hand presses into his hip, now Shane is noticing, thumb and fingers artistically skating circles into the material of his suit trousers.
Shane nudges him. “You okay?”
Ilya responds with a curt nod, which does the opposite of confirming that he is, in fact, okay. A move that sharp and short would only ever translate to No, not really. Not at all, actually. And Ilya knows that Shane isn't an idiot, so he lifts his gaze finally and meets Shane's eyes, which seems to settle whatever nervous disaster is storming inside of him even just a little. With his accent prominent, he says, “Later.”

It was easier to confess while high, they won't lie. Less stakes when the guys you're telling are your best friends, not the girl you're trying to spend the rest of your life with.
Ducking her head to look in their eyes, since apparently they've dropped their head in the shame of existing they've felt since the age of six. She smiles, cheeks round and rosy in the way they get when she smiles at them. "You're still really bad at being vulnerable, ya know?" She laughs.
They can't help but laugh with her. "Shut up, I'm trying."

She follows the taller girl to an empty table where they sit opposite each other. Her bell bottom jeans and tank top make her fit right in with the party but Van suspects that's just her style not a costume. Even her boots, which Van can only see the toes of, match the Western theme and also Taissa's vibe exactly. Meanwhile Van looks like she's going to a kid's bowling party.
"So you're a firefighter?" Taissa asks.
Van shakes her head, blinking hard, looking at Taissa and not her boots. "Oh, yeah"or, Van is a firefighter and crushing hard on law student Taissa, so when they meet at a party sparks fly immediately

Lottie is inside of her body, but she doesn't feel very in control. Lucid. That's what she is. Her feet move across the floor of the cabin, this godforsaken place. She's quicker, softer. Honestly, her feet don't even feel like they're touching the floor.
There is a squirrel on a tree directly across from the cabin door. She can smell it. The scent is divine.
Everything happens faster than she could possibly recall. One second she's on the porch, eyes locked on this scuttling squirrel. The next she's hunched over on the ground and the squirrel is gone. A dark patch on the ground remains.
"What the actual fuck, Lottie?" Taissa says, horrified.or, something else is with them in the wilderness. something hungry and something spreading

Maybe Sokka was exaggerating.
Maybe Zuko wore those cute bright dolphin shorts exclusively for Sokka's benefit.
Maybe Sokka was exaggerating that too.Or; It takes Zuko running away and seeing the world to learn what family means. Sokka already knew what it felt like. It takes Sokka a minor concussion to know what home feels like. Zuko already knew what it meant.
