Summary
When Merlin is a child, he is taken from Hunith's loving arms to Cenred's unforgiving kingdom. Raised to be Cenred's soldier, Merlin draws the line at killing recklessly and must escape - finding himself in Camelot, trying to appear as inconspicuous as possible.
Of course, this doesn't work out, as he quickly runs into Arthur, the young king of Camelot. Though Arthur is wary, he is intrigued by Merlin, and follows his heart to the warlock... and into some serious trouble.
OR: Merlin is hurt, but he finds Arthur and falls in love, and that almost fixes everything.

Summary
Matt’s not at law school to make friends. Unfortunately, no one told his roommate that.
Foggy had apologized for waking Matt up, once he’d realized that Matt wasn’t asleep. Instead of telling Foggy that he hadn’t been asleep, hadn’t been able to shake the thought of Foggy dead in a ditch somewhere, Matt had told him not to worry about it. Foggy, of course--blithe, happy-go-lucky Foggy--had taken him at his word, and hadn’t worried about it.
It would be easier, if Matt actually wasn’t worrying about it. One little form, and Matt could have his protective bubble back. One little form, and he could put all his focus back on his studies. One little form, and he’d have absolutely no idea where Foggy was or what Foggy was doing.
It would be a relief, really. For both of them, Matt was sure.

Summary
All Arthur really wanted was to get away from the citadel for a while. But humor can be taken too far, and there are limits to the abuse a man-- yes, even a servant-- should be forced to accept. When a joke gone sour threatened to destroy a friendship he hadn't realized he'd grown to depend on, Arthur knew it was up to him to make amends, and maybe grow up a little in the process.

Merlin coughed to hide a laugh; it was surprisingly astute of Arthur to have noticed.
"Not at all," Geoffrey said quickly, glowering at Merlin—and then, a gleam came over his eye, and he appraised Merlin with renewed interest. "In fact, this is rather opportune. Merlin, since you have finished your research, you can assist Prince Arthur."
After being sent to Camelot under the care of Geoffrey of Monmouth, Merlin spends his first few weeks working in the royal library. It seems like the perfect place to hide away from the tyrannical, magic-hating King Uther—until Prince Arthur comes barging into Merlin's life.
Turns out it's not so easy to escape destiny's hand.

That does seem like the kind of thing to break him, doesn’t it?

Merlin's bitterness towards Arthur for Freya's death is only increasing day by day, when a letter arrives from a dragonlord, claiming to be his father. Desperate for a break from destiny, Merlin leaves Camelot. He returns over a year later, but things are not the same. He has people-- and dragons-- to look after. And there comes a problem when Morgana starts behaving strangely, her glares towards Arthur a little too angry to be normal...
