Summary
Six years after the end of war Zuko rules the Fire Nation. Azula, having voluntarily renounced her royal titles, now serves as Commander of the Royal Guard, a role she earned through genuine competence rather than birthright. Katara has spent these years doing diplomatic work around the world and has recently been appointed Southern Water Tribe Ambassador to the Fire Nation, where she now resides at the palace. Everything is running normally until a guard disappears without a trace, leading to an investigation that will uncover a very complex and dangerous plot that threatens the Fire Nation's royal family.

I shift, not really wanting the day to end, “Want to come up?” I try. “I’ll find a horror movie that will actually make you jump.”
Maddy laughs. “You don’t need to put on scary movies to get me close to you, Rue—”
I’m lost for words. My face heats up, “That’s not—
“—I’m a cuddler as you can tell.” She finishes.
Oh. I think. So, she knows we were basically tangled into each other this morning. I chew on my bottom lip, my mind about to go into over drive.
“You’re doing that thing.” She tells me.
“Yeah sorry.” I give an awkward laugh. “You cuddle with all your friends, I’m guessing…”
Maddy phones begin to blow up, and she looks at it and roll her eyes while saying, “No. I don’t like sharing beds during sleepovers.” My eyes widen. “I have to go, unfortunately.” She leans over and gives me a hug, “Good night, Rue.”
I pull the pillow Maddy was using and fall into a dream that includes hues of purple and whispers of ocean wave promises.

Summary
Maddy and Rue have always been what Rue would call ‘adjacent friends’. They run in the same circles, but that’s all it’s ever been.
When Maddy asks Rue to go to a party with her, it blossoms a friendship neither of them expects. As they grow closer, things also become more complicated as they both deal with past relationships, drugs and more. They soon only find peace in each other. Could it be more than a new, deep friendship?
