It takes less than two seconds before Harry all but throws himself at Louis, who still has an IV hooked to his arm and looks more fragile than a newborn. He doesn’t realize he’s crying until Louis’ left arm circles around him to pat him in the back.
“Fuck, love, you scared me so much,” he murmurs against Louis’ neck, “I missed you.”
“Um, hi—Harry, was it?”
Harry can’t help but laugh, tears wetting his cheeks as he pulls back a little to look at Louis’ face, expecting a teasing smile. Instead, he is met with Louis’ confused gaze. His heart drops in his chest as he realizes that Louis isn’t messing with him.
“It seems,” Niall says, “that Lou is having a bit of trouble remembering certain things about his life.”
“Certain things,” Harry repeats, his tone flat, as he removes himself from Louis’ side.
Louis is eyeing him curiously, his eyes wide and confused, and he looks a little worried, like he wasn’t expecting Harry to react like this—like he wasn’t expecting Harry at all.

Summary
Louis finds himself out of place in LA, unable to get at an itch that’s been bothering him for years. He supposes back in the early days, home hadn’t been a place. It’d been a person. He’d etched it permanently into his skin for fucks sake.
It was always him and Harry. Stuck to each other like super glue. Pulled together by some magnetic force, existing in their own bubble. Everyone could see it, but that was half the problem, wasn’t it?It’s not like Louis can pinpoint the exact moment in time when him and Harry fell out of sync. There wasn’t really one at all. It had been a gradual slip, like the tide wearing away at a sandstone cliff. Chipping the solid foundations until there was nothing left to stop the structure falling to the waves below. It’s not like he spends all of his time sitting around moping over a lost friendship, he’s good at distractions. But LA only seems to accentuate the distance between them. Two separate planets, not even in the same solar system.

Summary
Slowly but surely, her only source of happiness becomes Harry.
They become closer than what's healthy for either of them. Harry has nightmares, so when Louis' not over, Helen sleeps in his small, cramped bed with him. He refuses to shower without her in the bathroom with him (“I'm scared you're going to leave me when I'm in there,” he confesses one night). They become one unit, never too far apart from one another. Helen even picks him up from school everyday for lunch because if she doesn't, Harry will throw himself in a full blown panic attack that not even Louis can fix, only her.
That's where things start to go bad. Harry becomes Helen's everything and more. She stops sleeping in Harry's bed just when he has nightmares and starts sleeping with him every night. He cuddles in close, always choosing to shove his cheek against her breast. Harry's sad, too, so he welcomes the extra affection. Until it becomes too much.
