Summary
Shanks only meant to share a drink.
Instead, somewhere between whiskey, silence, and Mihawk’s impossible ability to see through him, the night turns dangerous in an entirely different way. Because it's one thing to lose an arm for the future of the world. It's another to have someone look at the wreckage you left behind and call it kindness.

Summary
“Wow,” Nami says, appearing with the timing of someone who has clearly been listening nearby. “You really went full philosophy lecture on a kid.”
Robin doesn’t look up from her paper. “She asked.”
“Uh-huh.” Nami leans against the mast, arms crossed. “And let me guess, the conclusion was ‘government bad, again’?”
Robin finally glances at her, calm as ever despite the smile tugging at her mouth.
“In more elegant phrasing, yes.”
News Coo headlines, political slander, and one very unfortunate philosophy lecture. Bonney learns why Robin finds the government so deeply disappointing, while Nami learns that Robin can somehow turn “government bad” into a twenty-minute academic discussion.

Summary
“Mah! You think too much! Using big words that I don’t understand and all that!” His voice yanks me from my thoughts. “If I say I’m free, then I am! If I say that I’ll be the pirate king, then I will be!”
He huffs, and air swells his chest over. He takes a stubborn bite of meat, his teeth tearing through roasted skin, and loudly gulps it down. “I’m me! I’m no one else! And I decide things for myself!”
or: a messy, endless spiral of questioning whether Luffy calls his own shots, or if the story was penned before he even set sail.

Summary
Shanks had met many on the seas, but none like the boy they called Anchor. He was bright, stubborn, and fiery like the sun, and it drew the captain in from the very first moment.
Through every storm, every swell, and every scar, the meaning of the name remained close to Shanks’ chest. He once said it was because the boy sank like an anchor, but was that truly all there was?
