“Takumi, are you sure about this?”
“Bwuh?” is Takumi’s response. He blinks once, then smiles, that charming lopsided smile that Yugamu usually only sees out of him when they’re alone. The one he gives when Yugamu says something that’s just a bit too much, too odd, too revealing, and Takumi’s bewildered by his own endearment toward it—even now, Yugamu’s stomach does flips at the sight of it, but in the context he only ends up feeling more nauseous. “Am I acting like I’m not?”
“You,” Yugamu swallows and shakes his head, because no. Because he wouldn’t have allowed things to progress this far had Takumi shown an ounce of hesitation, because Takumi is such an awful liar, Yugamu would have known in intimate detail if he didn’t know how he wanted this to go. The uncertainty that’s carved into his expression now had only just appeared as a result of Yugamu’s own hesitation. That, too, makes his stomach clench with that unbearable thing, but Yugamu can only hug himself to self-soothe as he tries to articulate his feelings. “No. No, I just, are you sure that…”

"Really? Why's that?" asked Takumi.
"You have good survival skills," said Yugamu, nonchalantly. He narrowed his eye playfully. "What, did you think I just picked you for your charming looks, or lovable personality? Because those were factors I considered. You certainly would be delicious eye candy."
There was an unspoken truth that duo exploration missions tended to make people closer. Everyone that returned from one had some sort of secret they shared with the other person, some moment during the quest that bound them together. Of course Yugamu wanted Takumi to go with him. Maybe this would be their moment.

Yugamu clears his throat again and takes a step forward, extending a hand to brush the back of his knuckles against Sumino’s forehead. “Are you feeling unwell? You look terrible.”
“Thanks,” Sumino mumbles, but the dry remark lacks his usual bluster. If anything, Sumino just deflates, his shoulders curling inwards. “I just… woke up on the side of the bed this morning, I guess.” His free hand tugs at the front of his jacket and he lets out a faint grumble, glancing over his shoulder at the Gift-O-Matic again. Although Sumino’s skin is a bit clammy, he clearly doesn’t have a fever, so Yugamu withdraws his hand. One of Sumino’s eyes shuts as he does. “Y-You’re not here to use it or anything? Or look at the history?”
Not an unsuspicious thing to ask. Yugamu underwent four straight months of torture when he was seven to be sure that he could hold his own during interrogations, so luckily, he’s able to suppress the telling glance he wants to make at Sumino’s pocket. Instead, he raises an eyebrow, tucking his hands into his sleeves.
