    Izuku Midoriya has never really considered himself brave.
    Sure, he gets into situations and makes it back out, and he charges into fights he really has no business interfering in, but that’s just basic human decency, half the time. A mix of desperation and god knows what else.
    Izuku doesn’t think he’s particularly brave.
    Every night, he wakes up with a wild heart and gasping breath and he has to bite down hard to stop himself from screaming.
    Someone who’s brave wouldn’t be so damned scared all the time. Someone brave would stand up to fight instead of running away. Someone who’s brave wouldn’t still be caught up in old memories and nightmares.
    Midoriya Izuku isn’t very brave.

     

    Ex-vigilante Izuku deals with the Overhaul Arc with his friends and family! He's dealing with some shit, but what can you do when you're quirkless and have been semi-regularly breaking the law and dealing with bloodthirsty supervillains?

    "Do you have any more injuries you wanna tell me about before I help dig the rest of your helpless ass out?"

    Deku took a moment at this, eyebrows pinching in concentration as he either assessed his injuries or just processed Katsuki's request, he didn't know.

    "M'back hurts," he mumbled finally, head lolling to the side like it weighed a hundred tons, "s hard t' breathe, m'legs're stuck 'n..."

     The unfocused gaze widened for a moment, then fell. The silence that stretched was unsettling, and Katsuki was about to yell at the nerd to hurry up and stop keeping him in suspense when the whisper reached his ears. 

    "Kacchan, I can't feel m'legs."

    Katsuki and Izuku are trapped in an elevator, except it's angsty and under a building. They reminisce while Izuku tries to simultaneously not die of his injuries or of his feelings. Gayness ensues.

    Midoriya wakes up with a concussion, no memories, and a growing sense that something is very, very wrong.

    They're stranded in the forest. A villain is tracking them through the ground beneath their feet. Each step they take brings the danger closer.

    Worst of all, the people trying to protect him feel like strangers.

    (Unfortunately for him, they refuse to treat him like one.)

    It’s a bad idea, but not any worse than the other ideas he’s had today. Decided, Izuku spends a little too long retrieving the dummies and packing them back into his duffle. He brought a sweatshirt, and he puts it on just to cover the swollen mess that it is hand. If Shinsou isn’t willing to help, Izuku doesn’t want him snitching to Recovery Girl. Izuku’s got YouTube. He’s sure he can ask Momo to make him some wraps. He’ll figure it out on his own if he needs to. 

    Or... At UA, Izuku works through some trust issues.

    Bakugou, however, is staring at Denki sharply.
