At the end of a deserted mountain cliff just off the road on the way to Lotus Pier, there was a humble shrine. There seemed to be no keepers, and the god who lords over the shrine had declined in power years ago, but it was said if you came with a worthy gift, a mysterious spirit would consider your prayers.
Or: Jiang Cheng, heir of the Yunmeng-Jiang sect, and the series of propositions he had for the bewitching fox demon Nie Huaisang.

Qifrey’s formal robes were a piece of art in their own right. Bankrolled by Beldaruit as a final graduation gift, they were a pale smoke, nearly white, and from what Olruggio could remember the golden embroidery was a sight to see. It vined along the bottom hem and wrapped organically around his throat, and when Olly had seen them for the first time he hadn’t known what to say. Qifrey had stepped forward to speak to him and he’d simply stared until gently reminded that he was still, in fact, capable of speech.
(Truthfully, just an elaborate set piece to put both dads in formal robes for an evening.)

Summary
Beldaruit and Qifrey - and so naturally also Olruggio - over the years in the Great Hall. Also, for any interested parties, the middle scene is Qifrey coming home after the Tower of Tomes and all that entails. If that means nothing to you, I would not read this.

“Exactly.” Beldaruit sounds softer when he says, “kisses are a sign that two people are very close, or are interested in becoming very close. A parent might kiss their child on the head to soothe them, or the cheek to make them laugh. A friend, too, might kiss a cheek as a sign of affection.”
“Oh, so like Olly?” Qifrey brightens a little. It doesn’t sound so bad being that close to Olly, although the lips bit still sounds pretty disgusting.

Olruggio never made a big deal about the money his specialized commissions got him. They got what they needed, and some extra at that. To the others, however, it is quite a revelation.
