Summary
The thing about Eiji is that he’s kind of bossy.
He’s a flurry of color in the morning, gathering errant objects scattered across their living room (“Ash, I told you to just buy a bookshelf.”) cajoling Ash out of bed at ungodly hours and plating a pungent breakfast (“Don’t make faces at the pickled vegetables, they’re good for you!”) insisting on a morning jog that Ash enjoys more than he can admit, laughing and free in the cool ocean air.
Today, Eiji has a different mission. They play-wrestle among piles of Ash’s ungraded papers and textbooks as Buddy snores in the corner.
“Saturdays are for relaxing,” Eiji lectures him, determined and all the more adorable for it. “Take a break. You can always work later.”
“And if I don’t, you’ll just kick my ass, is that it?” Ash teases, and he lets Eiji push him back on the sofa with a breathless laugh.
“I win!” He’s smug, hips slotted over Ash’s, hands spread out on his chest.
“I can live with that,” Ash says. His hands slip over Eiji’s ass, squeezing shamelessly. Color rises to Eiji’s cheeks, and he’s still trying very hard to look stern.
He’s bossy, until he isn’t.

Summary
It was the stuff of her girlhood dreams conjured into reality. Slender, waspish figures in extravagant gowns, the most beautiful man in Japan at her side. The bruises he’d left on her arms had already begun to fade, and her thoughts were pleasantly blurred by a third glass of wine as cameras flashed around them.
Everything as it should be, everything in its place, until Nana walked through the door.

Summary
He reciprocated Eiji’s touch, pulling him closer by the waist. I won’t hurt you, he vowed, to Eiji, to himself, burying his face in the soft bouquet of black hair. He felt the curve of Eiji’s smile against him, as if he’d read his mind.
”You don’t have to be so gentle,” Eiji breathed into his ear. He was standing on the tip of his toes. “You’re the delicate American, after all. You won’t hurt me.”

Summary
Mizi dropped to her knees and watched as Sua lifted her skirt, cupped her chin and guided her closer. She understood why humans of the past had knelt at altars so desperately, surrendering to gods who never answered their call.

Summary
Sounds of evening traffic, nightlife laughter, and street vendors wafted through the window of Eiji Okumura’s Brooklyn studio apartment. The hazy pane was propped open by a single, feeble wooden ruler that was soaking up the balmy breeze. Eiji leaned forward on a well-worn loveseat, peeling his damp back from the leather, and sighed. The room was lit dimly by a small television flickering pictures from the corner, volume turned to a dull mumble. A rickety ceiling fan spun in jagged circles above, barely moving the thick air. Eij’s next breath was much more dramatic, as he snatched his Casio from the coffee table to squint at its face. AUG 11 11:57P.

A five part disaster of two men trying to meet halfway.

Summary
'Alex clarified, when again it seemed like Ash wouldn’t reply. “Whoever goes with the boss has to spend some time fooling around with him.”
“Who is going with Ash?” Eiji had to ask.
There was a significant pause. The boys looked at Eiji and away.'
