Yes. Wilbur had to bite his tongue to keep the answer from spilling out of his mouth, because yes he wanted more. Of course he wanted more. He wanted to be more than the bastard prince. He wanted to be more than a mistake his mother made before she married Tommy’s father.
But that wasn’t the role he had been cast for in his life.
“It doesn’t matter,” Wilbur said instead. “When Tommy turns eighteen he’ll be crowned King, and I will be his advisor. He’ll be a good king, I’ll make sure of it.”
or, as the bastard prince of the planet of Eldingvegr, Wilbur has always known he was never meant for greatness. That was his younger brother's destiny. Wilbur's job was simply to try and make sure Tommy could fulfill that destiny.
That becomes decidedly more difficult when the brothers are betrayed, and are forced to flee their home planet. With the Essempi Empire being one of the largest imperial powers in the universe, the only place that can offer them refuge from Emperor Dream is Zephys IV—capital planet of the Antarctic Empire, ruled by the ruthless Emperor Philza.

Summary
The boy sits awkwardly in the chair, hunched forward and gripping his own bleeding hand.
Techno hadn’t noticed it before. There’s a long, thick cut right across his palm.
The kid shrugs when Techno asks about it. “Held something.” His mouth twists into a bitter sort of grin, teeth glistening. “Held something fucking sharp.”
Techno focuses too much on first aid to ask many questions. The kid, in turn, doesn’t speak much, aside from a shaky, “Tommy,” when Techno asks his name.
Tommy. Tommy, the kid who escaped from…something. Tommy, who ran through the city streets with bare feet and a bleeding palm because he needed saving. Tommy, who is currently sitting in one of Techno’s kitchen chairs.

Summary
There’s a grunt. One, two, three, quick and panicked, and suddenly a large, fluffy mass is leaning into Tommy’s space.
Still curled up in pain, Tommy almost misses it—almost misses the dilation of Techno’s pupils, almost misses the constant chuff, chuff, chuff, and snort, snort, snort, as Techno’s head dips down to look at him. But Tommy’s been looking for it all week, so, as if magnetized, Tommy still lifts his pained head upward.
Instinct-Techno is back. The Instinct-Techno that looks out for him. The Instinct-Techno that actually cares.

Tommy blinked. Gradually, the corners of his mouth dropped into the deepest frown he’d ever made. “What the fuck? Why?”
“Why?” Icarus froze and Tommy raised a judgemental eyebrow. “It’s because of your powers.”
“My powers,” he echoed. “I never told you whether or not I had powers.”
“I can… sense them,” Icarus bullshitted. Tommy pinched the bridge of his nose.
“Right. What are they, then,” he retorted.
“Uh… super… powers,” the villain answered, sounding more unsure of himself by the second.
Tommy wanted to bash his head against a wall. “Really? That’s the best you could do?”

Tommy isn’t sure why handing someone their keys is such a big deal, but now he’s left with a huge problem: Every supervillain in the city wants him to be their apprentice!
