    Kiryu silently observed from the side, his gaze involuntarily drawn to the faint scar on Kasuga's chest. It was so close to the heart. Kiryu couldn’t help but think, "If it had been just a bit lower… none of this would have ever happened."

    Though that gunshot was part of Masumi Arakawa's grand scheme, any slight misstep could have costed Kasuga’s life.

    Kiryu, too, had walked the fine line between life and death. Both he and Kasuga had faced mortal trials and borne heavy burdens, and yet, despite their different upraisings and personalities, their fate were uncanningly similar.
