Summary
The door opens behind him. "Thank you for coming so quickly," someone says, and a new and very familiar voice answers with "Well, I was already in the building."
A pair of LAFD-issue boots step into Tommy's line of sight, and then Evan crouches down.
"Hey, Tommy," Evan says, so careful and gentle.
"Just fucking kill me now," Tommy mutters to the floor.
Tommy faints. Evan comes when called.

In the middle of the circle Tommy smiles, and then he catches sight of Buck and his smile becomes radiant, and he reaches toward him and tangles their fingers together and pulls him into the circle, too. "Yeah, he's really great," Tommy says.

Summary
On their way to Nash's first birthday party, Margaret and Phillip's rental car blows a tire. Luckily, an off-duty firefighter shows up to help.
Phillip's smile tilts oddly, followed by his head. "I-I'm so sorry, this is going to sound strange, but do I know you...?"
"I have one of those faces," the man says, glancing Margaret's way and nodding in acknowledgment of her presence. It's unexpectedly nice. The clerk who rented them the car spoke only to Phillip the entire time.
Then he does a double take worthy of Bob Newhart. "Mrs. Buckley?"
She blinks, then gasps. He's not just familiar. "Oh! You're Ev—um, Buck's friend."
'Friend' isn't the right word. She winces a little the second it leaves her mouth, because you don't kiss your friends the way Evan did this man on Maddie's wedding day.

Summary
"No doubt thou didst melt the seal open on the steam vents to read the business of thy betters, planned how thou wouldst ingratiate thyself with the Archduke— oh yes, we know thy tricks…”
Not the steam vents, thinks Csevet. It would wet the paper. The hot pipes, yes— but not the vents. He would only use a steam vent if he wanted to bleed the ink onto the external sheet and claim inclement weather, and that almost never can be gotten away with inside the court.
Captain Orthema is saying Lord Chavar, leave Mer Aisava, but Csevet knows Chavar will not move for love or money now, not until he has said his piece.

"You know what's crazier than a guy flying out here several times a year to research shark breeding grounds he can't find?" Evan asks. "The guy who flies him out there."
Tommy smiles. "Guilty."

Summary
The music was too loud to have a meaningful conversation, but they tried. Tommy handed him another drink. Buck was too focused on not getting jostled and spilling the overpriced alcohol all over the both of them, so he missed the context, when Tommy said, ”Puppy?”
A bit of a non sequitur, but Buck didn't think anything of it. He had been called a golden retriever before, so he laughed and said, ”I mean, yeah.”
Tommy's whole face crinkled in a smile. ”Yeah, you are.”
