“Shane you have…you have felt like you just did before in the past, da?” Ilya says softly. Shane hums, looping one of his arms around Ilya’s neck. Ilya takes his free hand, grazing a thumb across the back of it like Shane is something precious. “Shane?”
“Yeah,” Shane finally says, his voice grating out of his throat like it hurts him to say it. “Yeah, I’ve felt like that before.”
Ilya immediately feels bad for asking at all, let alone pushing Shane after he’d already given a non-answer. Shane had said it like he was confessing to one of things he’s the most embarrassed about, something that’d made him feel his lowest and most pathetic, and Ilya knows that it’s because that is what this is. It makes him ache.
--or, Ilya sees up close and personal just how much Vegas had affected Shane during his first summer at the cottage, they acknowledge that Vegas was fucked and take steps to prevent it from happening again

Summary
It'd been easier for Shane to pretend the emotional meltdown that he'd had after their 2014 encounter in Vegas hadn't happened than to bring it up to Ilya. It'd only ever happened that one time. There's no reason to dwell on it or rehash old stuff when both of them are great at aftercare now and have been since they officially got together.

“Maybe I can try? My door gets stuck like that all the time, I’m pretty much a pro by now.” He offered, but didn’t wait for any kind of reply before he bent down and grabbed Derek’s keys. He placed the key in the lock and turned it slowly, yet firmly, to the right. Derek could swear he saw Stiles' s tattoos shifting with the motion but he ignored it, thinking that it was probably due to the dim light and the muscles that shifted when Stiles moved his fingers. And, of course, then the door opened easily and with an audible click.
“How did you do that?” Erica asked.
“I’m magic.” Stiles disappeared into his apartment.
The group was motionless in stunned silence for a couple minutes. “I told you!” Erica whisper-shouted.
