The boy dropped his head in shame. A calloused set of hands gently guided his face to meet eyes with the man.

Diego thought joining the FBI would help him finally put all the bullshit of his childhood behind him. He hadn’t been to the academy in years, hadn’t spoken to his siblings or his “father” in years. That should be enough. And if not that, then surely the Bureau-mandated therapy sessions would do it.
