Garraty clears his throat, then asks, “What about you, Pete? You got a lady?”
McVries holds Garraty’s gaze for a moment, intensely, then says, “No, Ray. No, I don’t.”
Every molecule of Raymond Garraty slows to a snail’s pace. McVries peers at him, dark eyes half-lidded, smiling softly. Garraty feels a little like he’s fallen behind in a race he didn’t know he was running.
They keep looking at each other, silently, until McVries’s lips quirk up like Garraty’s said something funny, and he lifts his bottle to his lips.
“What is it?” Garraty asks. “What’s so funny?”
McVries shakes his head, still wearing that knowing smile. “Nothing, Ray. Not a thing.”
Ray Garraty and Peter McVries fuck around, get together, and fall in love. Not necessarily in that order.

Summary
Five years ago, Armin had a dream that he’d see humanity free and feel the ocean waves beneath his feet with Eren, with Mikasa, no matter the cost.
Five months ago, he watched that dream get crushed in the jaws of a titan.
And in five hours from now, he’d be returning to the place it died.
The remains of the 104th Training Corps narrowly survive the Titan onslaught on Trost with the help of the Rogue TItan. Shortly thereafter, the city is declared a lost cause, and humanity is once again forced to retreat further into the safety of the walls. But the city was not the only thing lost: humanity lost its faith in the future, and Armin lost the person he cared for more than anyone else.
Little does he know that person is not only alive, but currently stuck within the body of the very thing he swore to destroy and in desperate need of his help.
Or: It takes the 104th a lot longer than anticipated to discover the identity of the Rogue Titan. This changes things.

Summary
Garp knew the moment Roger told him about his kid that it would only spell out trouble. In no life would he be able to sit back and let the kid die before he ever got to live.
In another life, that meant keeping the child at a distance. The less known about his “grandson,” the better. Let them believe it was for the crimes of his own son. But that life ended with Garp sitting on a parapet, helpless as the boy he had watched grow up was executed for the very crime he spent years protecting him from.
In this life, Garp kept him much closer and didn’t make it quite as far.
AKA The ASL brothers grow up slightly differently than in canon, and have to leave Dawn earlier than they anticipated.
