Summary
“Careful now, girl”, Yolanda coos. It comes with the tip of the knife kissing the soft underside of Trinity’s chin.
Immediately, Santos locks up. Pupils dilating at the tone, at the touch of the blade. Keeps completely still, watching Yolanda’s eyes darken.
For a beat, they stay like that.

Summary
July begins with a bang. The bang is followed by another one, and another, and another; and before Santos knows it, she is stepping into the blindly bright sunlight of a summer day, cutting across the street to the construction site, looking for a way to unplug the monstrous drill splitting the ground open and keeping her awake.
“Hey! You cannot be here” is shouted on cue only for Santos to come face to face with a Latina. The most beautiful woman she has ever laid eyes on. Who is glaring at Santos with a look vicious enough to have her lose any human ability of forming a coherent thought.
“You need to get the hell out of my site”.
Santos isn’t in the business of staying firm when spoken to by drop-dead gorgeous, condescending women. But she hasn’t been home for more than three hours after a brutal shift and so she snaps;
“I’m an R2 stuck in an ER’s night shift. What I need to do is get some fucking sleep”.
Or
Yolanda Garcia is the architect overseeing a project’s construction. Trinity Santos lives right across the street.

Summary
“Call a therapist”. The precision of the cut Yolanda absolutely meant to make but surely didn’t aim for such depth – was another thing to think right after the memory of Langdon’s voice daring to utter; “I’d be happy to teach Dr. Santos” and Garcia not even blinking when –
Picking up the phone and saying, “No”, when Yolanda asked to swing by for the evening; was the easiest thing Trinity had done all week.
But following up with, “I think we’re done”, had choked the oxygen out.
She didn’t catch the flutter of Yolanda’s breathing; too busy trying to fight her way out the window to sit on the hot metal of the fire escape and try to suck in a clear inhale. She did catch the precise delivery of a “cool, thanks for the heads up”, before Garcia hanged up the phone.
Or
Trinity never expected her apartment to have a steady, rotating population of med students.

Summary
For the record, Trinity didn’t do jealousy. But there was just something about the way the scrub tech and Garcia moved around one another in the OR, that had something sour curl in her gut.
//
For the record, she felt quite secured in her relationship with Trinity. But if the attending didn’t fucking stop casually touching Yolanda’s girlfriend, she would do something ugly.

Summary
The thing about your partner being exclusively friends with med-students, was that you were bound to find yourself on the porch of a frat house on the night before your day off, watching literal children drink enough to consider the odds of them being one of Trinity’s work cases coming seven o’clock.
And in places like this there was bound to be a shout, cutting through the sounds of the crowd, asking, “Is there a doctor here? Please! We need a doctor!”
Trinity’s eyes sharpened. Yolanda spat out a curse. And they moved.
