Severus Snape didn't know what was going on with Harry Potter. One minute he was having a seizure and spending the night in the Infirmary, and the next he was gone. Three weeks later, he witnesses the boy miraculously reappear and slay the Dark Lord. Now he's sitting in Albus Dumbledore's office listening to the boy claim that he's from the future and the Master of Death while Voldemort's corpse hovers beside them. Potter has changed and Severus finds himself landed with a boy who isn't the same irritating brat that he once knew.
This was originally titled The Potion Master's Apprentice, written by Athy and abandoned, up for adoption. She has kindly allowed me to take her beautiful idea into my own hands to do with it as I will. It is still here on AO3 and you should go read it. I've used many of her words, her original concept, and then put my own twist on it. Thank you so much for letting me adopt your story.

Summary
The anger and dread Harry felt was nothing new. He'd always been embarrassed by his volatile emotions, how his reactions could be wildly out of control. Releasing the snake at the zoo, blowing up his Aunt, yelling at his friends. But, this summer, the dreams of the snake, the rat, and the familiar flash of green light had released something else within Harry. Another part of his magic that he didn't understand.
One thing Harry did understand - finally. He needed help. Help to understand Voldemort's threat. Help to keep himself and his friends safe. And with the stupid Goblet spitting his name into the air as fourth Champion, Harry needed it now. Before something even worse happened.
AU of Goblet of Fire wherein Harry does not accept his fate happily, but, instead, goes to adults for help. With Snape's help, Harry realizes that Parseltongue is not the only skill he shares with Voldemort.

Summary
It's been over five years since Voldemort's defeat when Harry Potter gets pushed through a portal and falls into the Great Hall of Hogwarts. This wouldn't be a problem, exactly, except it's his parents' Hogwarts instead of his own. Thankfully, Hermione and Ron aren't about to let him face this newest form of trouble by himself. Even more fortunately, Hermione says they're in a different dimension entirely.
Harry has a castle full of living ghosts, his best friends by his side, and three to six months to make just a few changes. Starting with a snake.

When Petunia Dursley refused to take Harry in she forfeited his birthright protection, so Dumbledore took the baby to the safest place he knew: Hogwarts.
The applicable staff (mostly just… not Snape) took Harry in on a rotating schedule as he grew from baby to toddler to child. They traded extra credit for babysitting among the older students, and Harry grew up knowing a few dozen different laps that were safe and warm to nap in.
This was a Harry who grew up among books, among old transient walls and learned professors. They gave Binns night duty sometimes, and let him talk young Harry to sleep. This was a Harry whose world changed, on principle, daily. The stairs moved. The walls became doors. You had to keep your eyes open–you had to pay attention. So he did.
He grew up in a school. Knowledge was power, but knowledge was also joy. This was his sanctuary. There was magic in his world from birth.
