Summary
William got to his feet and turned around, prayer book clutched to his chest. Michael was standing in the center of the chapel, obviously just come from sparring practice. He was still wearing his dented cuirass, a leather pauldron on his right shoulder. The moonlight through the stained-glass windows painted him in blue and gold.
“Forgot to leave your armor behind in the gymnasium?” asked William lightly, skirting around him to set the prayer book back in its tabernacle.
“Something like that,” said Michael. He stepped out of the shaft of light, joining William at the perimeter of the circular room.
William closed the ornate wooden door of the tabernacle and turned to face him. “How did you know I’d be here?”
“I know you,” Michael said simply. I love you, he might as well have said, for the way it sent William’s heart skittering inside his chest.
Michael has been betrothed to the princess since their infancy. But it’s her brother he really wants.

Summary
“I guess I don’t feel things like you do,” Will said, saving him from speaking again; his voice carried the familiar lilt of amusement, but it dragged hard against Mike’s chest and left a tender spot that would no doubt bruise.
“Right,” he tapped his cigarette, took a step back. “‘Course.”
In their senior year of high school, Mike asks the others to join a rock band. Now, four years have passed and their popularity has grown to international levels: everyone knows their name or knows someone who does. It’s everything he thought he wanted, and he’s nowhere near happy.Will never wanted to be in a band, but Mike had been hard to say no to. At first, he learned to love it and the time they got to spend together, but the cracks that formed over the introduction of drugs, money, and power are splitting open, and they fight every time they look at each other: in private and in public.
And then, they’re forced on a tour together.

Will chews his lip and looks between Mike’s eyes. “I guess not. I feel safe with you too.” He laces his fingers behind Mike’s neck.
“I want this, and I don’t care that you’re a boy. You’re just Will to me.”

Will has never been kissed. Mike realizes he wants to be the one to kiss Will. As summer progresses, Mike discovers through a dangerous amount of sun exposure, a bottle of aloe vera, and a silver necklace that he wants more than just kisses, and maybe he always has.

Summary
Mike's life is split into two, clean halves. His life in Indiana, in the sun's harsh light, where he's fucked up in more ways than one. And then there's his other life, under the alias of legendarymichael, on the never-ending planes of the Internet. His digital heaven, where Mike exists as an untouchable, faceless deity; worshipped and praised.
Mike is good at keeping the two separate. Or so he thought, until Will Byers collides into his neatly sliced life, and derails it all when he takes a bite from both halves.
