Well. Ren is pretty sure it was the Black Mask who said the words, not him, but he still kind of ends up nodding, but also shrugging because what the fuck.
Soulmarks are found on everyone’s left arm; the first words your soulmate will say to you.
Usually, this would make meeting your soulmate a relatively easy task.
Ren doesn’t have that kind of luck.

“Hello,” the boy says, looking no older than eight. He is absolutely swimming in Akechi’s clothes. His eyes dart between all of them, fear evident behind his gaze, and does his best to give them all a wobbly sort of grin. Akira has worked with enough children to know that it is a telltale sign of someone trying to appear brave.
“Hello!” Ann recovers first, her voice coming out too loud and forced. Akira frowns as the boy noticeably flinches, his eyes watering up. “What’s your name?”
The boy looks down at the black gloves that form a blanket over his small hands. “I’m Goro,” he says softly. “W-where am I? Are you Mom’s friends?”

Summary
“Come on, Ren-kun,” Yukari nudges Ren as he slumps. “I dove into being Pink Argus with little experience myself, and I haven’t regretted it since. Maybe you’ll feel the same.”
Ren thinks about it. His life really couldn’t and shouldn’t revolve completely around the shadow world, he supposes. And he’s not obligated to do any more than this if acting doesn’t agree with him after all.
Ann’s going to freak. Futaba is going to lose her shit.
“You remember the Phantom Thieves of Hearts business a few years back?” The director asks. “It won’t be a complete one to one, but I do have to admit that this series’ plot is loosely based on it.”
Okay, now that’s just unfair. Now Ren has to take the role.
So that’s how Ren becomes a Featherman Ranger.
Or, Amamiya Ren becomes a Featherman actor, bases his character off Akechi, and the real Akechi Goro disastrously simps from afar.

Summary
“We need to talk about this. And I don’t just mean you leaving” --Ren raises a hand, cutting off Akechi before he can finish opening his mouth-- “I mean everything.”
“It’s pointless. I’ve already told you as much.” Akechi rolls his eyes and digs a crumpled lens rag out of his pocket. “After I’m gone, none of those things will matter anymore. If you think that your usual brand of brainless sentimentality will work on me, then--”
Just then, as Akechi unfurls the glasses cleaning rag, something clatters to the ground between them. Their heads turn to follow the sound in unison, and both discover the source at the same time -- an incredibly smooth, thumb-sized rock.
They raise their eyes again, steel gray meeting dark auburn.
Akechi’s Adam’s apple bobs under the collar of his turtleneck. “...Please let me explain.”Sometimes, if a rock is smooth enough, it can drag a man out of hiding and force him into a secret shared custody agreement with the guy he's hiding from -- and what Yusuke doesn't know can't hurt him.
