    Summary

The night air is chilly as Pomni slinks through the streets of the city, her heels tapping on the pavement beneath her as she goes. As much as she knew nobody would see her here, she couldn’t keep herself from worrying. She pulls her cardigan tightly around her, checking her phone’s direction app to make sure she’s headed the right way.

Pomni had never been sure places she was looking for actually existed outside of the novels she’s read, but when she had heard word– after eavesdropping on the subway, of course– that there was a BDSM club in the city, she hastily hunted down the address.

[⚠️ EPISODE NINE SPOILERS SFAUFUA MOVE ALONG ⚠️]
They all watched him fall— The funny, comic relief character. How ironic was that? The one who told jokes with a beaming smile now hid amongst pillows with sorrow.
They were probably laughing at him outside of the pillowfort, Jax decided with a scoff, squinting at the light coming out of the pillowfort. Somebody must’ve forgotten to cover the entrance.
    Whatever.
Jax looked down, feeling the familiar yet odd glitchness of his animalistic limbs, his multiple eyes opening and closing— arrays of colour filling the corners of his vision, reminding him of the depiction of people being high.
It was rare to think, Jax had come to terms with that. The abstraction was like a mind of its own, commanding for blood and violence in an animalistic tone.
And all he could really do was wait for that opening, wait for the cage to creak open ever so slightly so he could feel human again, even if it was never noticeable by whoever was around him.

    ---
OR: Pomni and the rest are persistent in constantly talking to Jax, unaware that he's listening in with complete consciousness, slowly regaining his sanity with each one sided conversation.

    Summary

“This is a dream,” she heard herself say. She swallowed, nodding to herself, trying steadfast to keep the growing lump in her throat at bay. “It’s a dream.”

But Jax remained no matter how she blinked, how she pinched herself—her nails were digging crescent moons into her palms and still he was there before her, regarding her with wide eyes.

He laughed, though he wasn’t smiling. “Oh yeah?” He asked, “Yours, or mine?”

    Summary

When Hua Cheng drinks the True Shape Serum, it has an unintended effect. In a rare moment of bad luck, his spiritual power reacts to it strangely, causing him to revert into his earliest ghostly form and lose his memories.
Much to Nan Feng and Fu Yao’s horror, the Scrap Immortal recognizes him.

In his eight hundred years haunting the three realms, Hua Cheng has shrugged off and crushed far stronger enchantments and curses.
By all rights, the True Shape Serum shouldn’t work on him. It's a paltry trick, no more than an annoyance considering the vastness of his spiritual power and the breadth of his experience with spellwork. So it's hard to say why Hua Cheng’s spiritual energy reacts to it the way it does.
Possibly, the enchantment recognizes that there's nothing he wants less in the world than to lie to His Highness now that he’s finally found him again, and seizes on this weakness.
Perhaps it was foolish from the start, to think that he could deceive his God when his very being sang to tell him everything he knew.
