Summary
Alicent arrives at court at the age of six and ten, with only one thought in mind: she will be queen of the Seven Kingdoms.
It won’t be an easy task, her father tells her. King Viserys, only a decade older than Alicent herself, remains wholly reluctant to remarry. He already has an heir, he insists, and has no need to find a new wife. Princess Rhaenyra, a girl of seven, is her father’s darling only child, and heir to his throne.
Alicent is certain she'll convince him otherwise. But then again, things rarely go the way one plans.

A dark and uncomfortable premise, and really excellently crafted to take us through that to an ending that is - mind you - still codependent and trauma-ridden, but where both women can be autonomous and truly supportive of each other within the sinister conditions of HotD. Each chapter is both tense and moving, and holds true to what is so generative about their dynamic in the show.

Summary
Francesca has lived as a secret alpha for her entire adult life - using herbs to repress her alpha instincts. She'd thought she'd found safety and comfort in the arms of John Stirling, but his tragic death stole that away from her. To make matters worse, his cousin, Michaela, is an omega who makes her feel excited and scared for reasons she cannot explain. When Michaela is named the new Lady Kilmartin and announces her intention to return to London, Francesca flees back to her brother's home and sets herself onto the marriage mart.
But of course, masking as a beta will not be as easy for Francesca as it was the first time, and complications quickly arise when her Majesty threatens to select a more "refined" diamond for the season.
