“My friend is actually from Busan, too,” Jisung continues. “Are you here alone?”
Without missing a beat Hyunjin answers, “I have a boyfriend.”
Jisung feels the automatic flutter in his chest and continues, playing up for the audience of Felix and Jeongin. “Oh, but just because there’s a goalie, doesn’t mean you can’t score.”
“You’re not even good at soccer,” Hyunjin points out, and damn, he wins. That was so smooth that Jisung doesn’t even have that good of a comeback for once.

“Yesterday, my mom came over and did more of that nagging, until I couldn’t take it anymore,” Hyunjin shared. “I snapped and decided to lie in the moment, and I kind of told her I had a boyfriend.”
Jeongin blinked. “Why did you do that?”
“I don’t know!” Hyunjin threw up his hands. “I thought in that split second that it would get her to leave me alone, but it only made things worse. And I made it worse than that, even, because…I gave her a name.”
The man simply stood there and blinked over at Hyunjin, trying to process what he tried to say, and then clarity suddenly appeared in his eyes.
“You gave her my name.”

Felix seems panicked. How strange; what is he even talking about? Changbin stirs and forces his eyes to blink open—a painful sensation around his tired eyes. He must have been sleeping hard. His head feels weighted and achy as well. If Felix wasn’t talking to him, he could fall back into sleep in an instant. But he stretches his arms and adjusts his eyes. Their surroundings are dark. Very dark. He begins to recognize the overhead showroom beams, the lights that are now barely lit up. As if they’re only on for security reasons.
Security lights.
He shifts into a quick sitting position. “We’re still in IKEA,” he repeats, his voice hollow.

They all look to where Felix is pointing, and Jisung and Hyunjin both tilt their heads, trying to understand the English on the package. It’s a tiny, flesh-colored rubber man in a T-pose under a flimsy plastic shell, attached to red printed cardboard.
“What does that say?” Jisung asks Felix.
“‘Grow-A-Boyfriend,’” Felix recites, and the words make Jisung’s stomach sink. He already knows where this is going, and sure enough, Hyunjin perks up and darts forward.
“What’s the rest of it say?”
‘“If you can’t get a date, then grow the perfect mate!” Felix continues reading. ‘“Drop me in the water for a lover that’s made to order. Grows to 6 times its original size.’ Hey, Jisungie—”
“No,” Jisung replies immediately.

Seungmin turns and smiles, speaking warmly. “Goodnight. Get home safely, Jisung-ah.” He turns and disappears through the doorway. Jisung doesn’t look away from the empty space until he hears Seungmin’s door shutting quietly somewhere down the hallway.
Felix looks up at Jisung, holding up the piping bags. “Now, are you gonna help me decorate all these cookies?”
