"Dr. Hollander..." Luca's voice came out low, almost cautious. "I think there's a gestational sac."
Shane stared at the student for a moment before letting out a short laugh.
"Good try." He waved a dismissive hand. "Now tell me what's actually on the screen."
No one answered.
The silence sent a chill up the back of Shane's neck.
He turned his head toward the monitor, expecting to find a cyst, an artifact, or anything else that would justify this collective reaction.
It was a gestational sac.
