Summary
Akihiko blinks. Looks in the mirror again. The ridges beneath his eyes look deeper than they normally do. His lids are a little puffy and his face feels unnaturally warm, with some faint rosy splotches in his cheeks.
There’s a moment where the thought passes through his mind, where he asks himself if maybe he should take the day off and rest.
A thought that is immediately shut down, of course, as the second stage sets in. He grips the edges of his sink, shakes his head, and thinks to himself Nope. Not happening.
Akihiko, despite his very best efforts, gets sick.

it’s not that shinjiro didn’t want to enjoy his birthday, nor that he wanted to have memories of the past pressing on his conscience. he, instead, determined that he deserved whatever fate had lined up for him, so he’d rather not push his luck. anything more or less would be asking, and that was a luxury he couldn’t afford.
however, that was a choice he would soon regret, because now he wanted to beg fate to give him an urgent phone call or any sign to leave this spot.

Suguru laughed. "You’re the one who was dumb enough to fall for it.”
No, he hadn’t fallen for it. He wasn’t stupid. That was the most obvious bullshit he’d ever seen through, so obvious that he couldn’t help his curiosity. He’d just needed to see what Suguru could possibly be up to. Where he had been stupid?
“You drugged me.”
Yeah, he shouldn’t have eaten the mochi.
