Summary
Knight-Princess Esme Dawnsong and Witch-Princess Mira Onizumi are the heads of two warring city-states, and have been in conflict for years. Both are highly skilled fighters; Esme is the chosen hero of her kingdom with the ability to channel the spirit of a great golden wolf spirit, and Mira is a powerful control magic user and practical stateswoman unafraid of the cost of doing business.
Mira decides to end the conflict by placing a pacification curse on her attacker, defying a prophecy claiming that Esme would kill her. Summary
Commander Mae Richards doesn't believe in the Free Terra nonsense her crewmates spout. For the aging rebel, fighting the Affini is a matter of avenging her dead wife, Alisha.

Summary
Holly Clarke is a free Terran, a member of the TCN's elite Lioness program, trained to fight the alien weeds no matter the cost. She doesn't need friends, or love, or anything else the Affini might use to corrupt her. It will all be worth it if she can just fight hard enough.
Cypress Amaranthia, First Bloom, is a xenosophont intake manager on an Affini rescue ship. She's happy to help hook other Affini up with pets, even though she hasn't taken any on herself. This is how she can help the most people, which is far more important than any personal issues she might be dealing with. She doesn't need to address the aching emptiness in her own life if she's bringing happiness to others.
When she decides that Holly is one of the people she needs to bring happiness to, things get complicated fast.

Meanwhile. In a modern world similar to our own, Reverie is trans girl Riley’s favorite VR game. Thanks to a patented drug, it feels like she’s really Faonari. Lately though, she’s been having strange interactions with a fairie npc. As she falls deeper into Aurelia’s clutches it begins to feel like maybe Reverie is the real world, instead of this one. After all, it sure beats the rest of her life.
