Summary
Kaveh expects some offhandedly smug, smooth remark from Alhaitham about how Kaveh’s his senior but never acts like it, or how it was the most logical outcome given the circumstances and he’s being a child for debating with him about it. But he just mumbles, low and almost petulant, “It is what it is.” He won’t meet Kaveh’s eyes. “You can’t move out.”
Kaveh balks at him before rubbing at his face furiously. “You can’t be serious. You can’t be serious,” he laughs, almost delirious. There’s no way his luck has reached this new low. He knows the ascended heroes on Celestia are guffawing at his misfortune. “Why would you do that when you’ve always wanted me to leave anyway?”
Alhaitham stares at him for a long moment before sighing, slipping into his seat and sliding his plate of Kaveh’s carefully constructed Fatteh towards him primly. “Why indeed,” he drones, sounding exhausted. “Why indeed.”

Summary
“Have you considered designing a new house instead.”
Kaveh blinked. “What.”
Alhaitham rested his hands lightly on either side of the table, effectively bracketing Kaveh without touching him. His voice remained even, as it always was, but there was something careful in it now.
“A different location,” Alhaitham continued. “Quieter. Less traffic. More space.”

Summary
Maybe at times, Kaveh should listen to his peers.
Maybe, perhaps, sometimes, his friends’ words and warnings are better than his reckless pride.
He finds himself standing across one man he earnestly promised not to associate with.
Kaveh doesn’t want anything to do with that man again.
Out of everyone the last Triwizard Tournament champion could have been, it’s a particular man Kaveh had despised for ages.
Alhaitham of Slytherin.
+
After their most acrimonious quarrel, Kaveh maintains that he would never, ever have anything to do with Alhaitham again. Because, well, curse him and his selfish philosophy, curse him and his inconvenient bluntness…
Kaveh had succeeded in this near-impossible avoidance for several years.
But now, it’s just that… They were both chosen for the Triwizard Tournament.
They’re going to have to be pitted against each other once again.

Summary
As Kaveh sorts the jugs into two groupings—one for the punch bowl and one for the drain—a bell chimes, clattering against the front door.
“We’re about to close,” Tighnari snaps at the entering customer.
Kaveh springs to his feet and positions himself behind the register.
“How can I help—”
You.
The customer is halfway to the counter when their eyes lock, and time stops. The man’s shoulders stiffen. Heterochromatic eyes—teal and orange, fire and water, familiar as the breath in Kaveh’s mouth, as the freckle above his left knee—widen with shock and a little disbelief. His mouth drops open, slack, and Kaveh thinks, I don’t think I’ve ever seen him speechless before.
Oh, gods.
Kaveh thought he’d never see Alhaitham again.
After a year without contact, Alhaitham wanders into Kaveh's coffee shop.
Kaveh wants nothing to do with him — he already has enough problems. But Alhaitham's determined to give him just one more, and perhaps solve a few in the process.
