depressed lawyer dan and burnt out like a candle writer phil who meet at an airport and dan trauma dumps on phil, they meet again a year later when phil writes a book where instead of dan, he is honest and open about himself (first time for everything)
honestly I loved how dan’s depression and way of coping by reading and obsessing with something he loves was portrayed here (and might have hit a little close to home🥲)
Its such a cute and awesome fic and I absolutely loved the ending chapters, I feel like the writer really nailed their personalities in a realistic sense (especially how they handled things in their own way that didn’t feel like a script (hah get it phil😈) -

Summary
Following the end of the third class trial, things go just as they always have. New areas open up, a Flashback Light is found, and the killing game continues. Not this time, though. Not when the Flashback Light malfunctions.
So things are a little tense, but it's not all that bad, Shuichi thinks. His attempt to comfort a friend leads to her being his wingwoman for his crush on Kokichi somehow, and although he is confused, he can't say he's complaining.
That is, until someone kidnaps him and fakes his death. He has a few problems with that one.

i honestly had a love-hate relationship with this fic while reading it, and not in the way you might think?! the torture obviously made me feel a bit queasy sometimes lmao but I loved the interactions between kokichi and the others like maki and kokichi’s barely friendship and obviously saiouma!! I really liked how tsumugi was portrayed here and how shuichis mindset got worse the longer he was stuck in ‘the torture dungeon’. How the tragedy impacted the world was definitely a lot better than the original game ending too😭😭
