Summary
If anyone asked Izuku how he was doing, he would give them all the same answer, even if none of them ever believed him in the least, most of all Kacchan. He would smile and say he was fine, as well as to be expected, really and no one would comment on how the words didn't hold any truth to them, or how the smile didn't quite reach his eyes like it used to.
(How could he be a hero, when he had only ended up hurting the person he cared about the most, in the end?)
Izuku thought that seeing Kacchan's body on the battlefield was the worst moment of his life.
Seeing Kacchan actually die was a thousand times worse.
It doesn't get easier the second time. Or the time after. And after.

They ducked out of the way of a stretcher being carted by two soldiers with a third laying atop it. His left leg was blown to bits, the white cotton stretcher stained dark red from the blood spilling along the rain-soaked, muddy trench ground, only to be stepped on by more passing soldiers with little regard to the mess they were making.
If the war they fought had been nothing but a personal nightmare…

Summary
Katsuki's smoking palm is making a dent into the door of the locker next to Izuku's, where it had slammed it so hard that the greenette was this close to throw out punches. Wide, green eyes try their best to comprehend what is happening.
Katsuki takes a sharp breath and closes his eyes, misery written all over him, as he speaks, “Then why? Tell me why Takeyama broke up with me because she thinks I'm gay? Deku, she called me gay! She said that I'm into guys more than I'm into her and she can't accept that!”
“I've never seen you being interested in a guy before and well I don't want to stereotype you but you seem very straight. But then again, sexuality is a spectrum and maybe if you are feeling confused, then you should think about it. I'm so sorry about your break up Kacchan.” Izuku says.
Katsuki huffs and sinks down onto the bench, frowning with his whole face. “Yeah you're right. I should take it more seriously and think about it.”
(In which Katsuki is confused if he likes guys, Izuku offers to help him, now Katsuki is definitely taking advantage of Izuku's offer. A sexual awakening disaster that ends up being a good thing)

Izuku quickly shoves on his long-discarded bottoms, slides into his slippers, and unhooks his lanyard from the pegs by the door. Not even he is important enough to be allowed past the sleep focus mode on Katsuki's phone, so Izuku heads out sans his own.
This'll be fine. This'll be quick. In and out. He'll buy Katsuki a buttload of his newest food fixation to make up for it. Izuku has the exact brand written down in his planner; he'll look in the morning. Tonight, he's on a mission.

Part of this operation includes hiring seat fillers to keep the audience looking packed when the camera pans to the crowd. Need a quick bathroom break or get called away on a mission mid-award ceremony? No worries, the event coordinator has someone on standby. In Katsuki’s case, the irritating bastard assigned to sit next to him is filling in for his boss, A-List Pro Hero Best Jeanist, who has other priorities—and better connections—to keep his seat attended for the entirety of the event.
Cue each year of Katsuki learning more about the stranger he’s nicknamed Deku and even finding himself looking forward to their brief encounters. When the hero fanatic doesn’t appear one year, Katsuki is forced to realize he never learned the most important fact about Deku: his real name.
