Summary
Simon wakes up immediately after "dying" in a strange, white hallway. He remembers most of what happened to him, but some things are still appearing in bursts- things he would rather forget. Disoriented and in pain, with no way of knowing where he is or how he's there or why, he's forced to navigate the new space alone. Or, not completely alone, though he might as well be. After all, the only other person near him is in a coma, and will continue to be for who knows how long.
Or; Simon wakes up aboard the Hail Mary while Grace is still in his coma.

Simon’s eyes are huge.
Blown out wide with the man’s shock.
Second by second, their face flushes until its so dark it teeters on being purple. He could tease about how strongly Simon reacted to this display of strength but…
He’s no better.
He can’t remember the last time his face has been this hot.
