Kiyoomi had sailed the Mediterranean in the times of Caesar, carrying precious cargo from Carthage to Rome through dangerous winds that had rocked their boat without mercy. He had roamed the Indian Ocean with both Portuguese and pirates alike, fighting those who’d dared to challenge their fleets. He had stood on the dock of Titanic when it hit the iceberg – had felt the impact in his bones, had heard the cries of men before the freezing water had embraced them to death.
He would’ve rather taken any of it and done it a hundred times again, no matter how cruel the fate, than fall to the depths of feelings.
That’s how it was before he met a man called Miya Atsumu.

Usually, it came to Shinsuke like second nature. How to put seemingly trivial pieces together to form the whole of Miya Atsumu. He’d thought he could write a manual about it. On how the tic of fingers meant Atsumu was itching for the weight of a volleyball between his palms. How the furrow of brows could indicate either irritation or confusion depending on how deeply they creased together and how much his eyes narrowed. How the slight upwards curve of his mouth, not the full-on grin that flashed his sharp canines nor the carefully attuned smirk he used to enamor his audience, but the slightest of smiles, sang a soft lullaby of love only for Shinsuke to hear.
He’d thought he could write a manual about it. Until Atsumu had returned to him wearing his face like a shield guarding his thoughts against the sharp spear of Shinsuke’s eyes.

Suna was convinced he was overthinking things. That he was being overprotective, whatever the fuck that was supposed to mean. After all, he wasn't doing this for Tsumu's sake. He was doing it for his own. Because when the two of them inevitably break up, it would be Osamu left dealing with a crying, heartbroken Atsumu. It would be Osamu who would have to drive to his apartment every day with fresh tuna onigiri just to make sure the idiot still remembered to eat. It would be Osamu who would have to hunt Sakusa Kiyoomi down and make him regret ever looking at Miya Atsumu.
So no, this was not for Atsumu's sake. Not at all.
Or: Atsumu brings his boyfriend to Osamu's restaurant. Osamu is decidedly not happy about this.

“It’s noth—” Atsumu’s voice catches on a cough. He presses a hand to his mouth on reflex, ignoring the judgemental glare Kiyoomi is probably giving him. Well, it’s the right decision because Atsumu coughs something into his hand, something small, petal-soft… petal-like…petal…
Oh no.
“You’re not sick are you?” Kiyoomi grumbles, sounding substantially more composed and pissy.
Atsumu closes his hand into a fist and crushes the petal. “No, I’m not.”
Fuck what everyone else says. If you ask Atsumu, bad puns and emotional avoidance are valid ways to cope with death-by-flowers disease.
