Nagi shakes his head stubbornly. “You don’t even touch me anymore.”
Reo can’t help it. He laughs. It’s brittle, and all of a sudden, he hears the coldness Nagi’s been going on about. “What, did you want me to?”
Nagi tenses at whatever he sees on Reo's face. “I—” he starts quietly, then stops.
Reo says nothing at all.
In which Reo tries keeping his distance, and Nagi starts acting stranger than usual.

Then Reo, who always pushed things far past their breaking point, had a horrible idea.

“Hey, Reo,” he says blankly. “I have a soulmate, I think.”
Or: Reo and Nagi have been attached at the hip for eight years. They've yet to receive their soulmarks, but everyone knows it's only a matter of time.

Their eyes meet. Nagi's hand is still on Reo's face, now resting gently on his cheek. "I don't know what you want," Reo says awkwardly. He draws back, and Nagi lets his arm fall away. "Is it food?"
"I can buy my own food," Nagi mumbles.
"You never had a problem with me buying you food before."
"Yeah, well..." Nagi hesitates. Reo stops walking, and Nagi stops too, fumbling for Reo's hand. "I have something else that I want now."
