Hermione Granger is not one for fashion. It's not that she doesn't know how to look good, just that she can't be bothered to spare the time. So when her new friend Pansy offers to make her over, she thinks why not?
Her new look makes her feel good, happy and confident. There's only one fly in her ointment--her partner and office mate Draco Malfoy. But then, he's never had anything good to say about her appearance, so why should that bother her?
It doesn't, not really. She just wishes she understood what his problem is. And what, precisely, went wrong between them.

Nothing else. Just that. The words fall out of his mouth and hover there like the world’s least convenient Bludger. It’s the first time he’s said it out loud. It feels… odd. Heavy. Possibly terminal. He braces for questions, or judgement, or maybe an intervention.
What he gets instead is the not-at-all subtle sound of coins changing hands. Theo passes a handful of Galleons to Blaise.
“I told you,” Blaise murmurs, smug as sin.
