    Lois mutters again; ‘Go on.‘

Jimmy looks back at him sheepishly, “But, uh… those Justice Leaguers, right? They’re definitely not PR-trained.”

Clark’s head, which had been running a mile of minute since he stepped foot into their busy office, quietens.

    “What do you mean?”

OR: It’s the morning after the Justice League is founded, and Clark discovers his fellow teammates are in dire need of PR training.

    Summary

    “My dad was a cop.”
Peter’s inhale wants to be sharp but isn’t. Neal’s still carefully frozen and angled away from him, his hair falling to his eyes as he—almost subconsciously—awaits a strike, but he relaxes a fraction at the softness of Peter’s voice when he says, “Oh.”
“I didn’t like him,” Neal goes on. “Not exactly the hero type. My mother, she wanted me to believe he was one of the good ones.” He gets lost in the story, doesn’t even notice Peter inching closer. “Even then, I knew there was no such thing.”
    “No such thing?”
“As a good lawman,” Neal responds, half-slumped, the blood loss and the pain doubling his vision.

Neal’s injured and afraid of Peter’s backlash after nearly killing Fowler.

    Summary

It takes two days before he’s called from his cell, but when he is, Neal thinks it’s the first time his body has begun to settle since Kate’s departure. Peter greets him with a nod. He’s cuffed to the metal table, and he doesn’t care. He doesn’t try to pick it. As soon as the door is shut: “Talk to me.”

    “I want to escape.”

Peter cocks his head, and something undeniably afraid creeps into his furrowed brow. “You have three months, Neal, this isn’t worth it.”

“I know.” It’s quiet, breathy, it’s barely his at all. “I know. That’s why I called you.”

    "Tell me."

    “Kate, she… she left.”

Neal calls for help when Kate leaves him, and Peter finds ways to let him serve out his sentence. It still isn't quite enough.

    Summary

Peter could feel the negotiation spinning out of control, he tried to grasp at it with slick fingers.

    "We won't let that happ-"

"Shut it!" Danny hissed, right next to his ear. "We can't trust him, we can't-"

"Can I offer you guys a third option?"

Peter couldn't believe what he was hearing, he opened his eyes to stare across at his partner who looked as calm as could be. He'd told Neal to let him handle things, what in the hell was he thinking?

"What?" Danny was so shocked at the outburst that he lost interest in pressing the gun against Peter's head.

Neal leaned back against the worktop in a way that suggested it was his idea to be on the floor in the first place, every part of him oozing confidence.

"You could run." Neal offered like it was the simplest solution in the world, to him, it probably was. "Take some cash, get some fake passports and just go. No-one would find you."

Or Peter and Neal end up in a little bit of trouble when investigating their latest case involving counterfeit car parts, Neal has an idea to get the pair out of it but Peter isn't going to like it.
