But now…” Aaron bent down to the exposed column of Robert’s throat, sucked gently on the skin there, drawing a wisp of a groan from Robert. “Now I’m here for you. Whatever you want.”

Robert knew, if he looked it up, that the increase in his four or five migraines a year, to four or five (eight, nine, ten, by the end of his prison sentence) a month could be put down to a lot of things – trauma, stress, grief, all of the above – but no one ever took him seriously. No one had ever taken his migraines seriously, except Aaron.
He'd just had to learn to live with the pain.

Summary
Robert couldn’t tell you exactly when he stopped talking. He could tell you why he did, though - two charges of attempted murder, a stint in prison, and the fact no one believed it wasn't him. Selective mutism, was what the prison doctor diagnosed, after a few sessions where Robert had sat there, silent, unable to bring himself to say anything. It can be a result of trauma – PTSD, the doctor had suggested. The only cure was time, and therapy.

But now, when it's his feelings versus Charity’s, only Matty seems sympathetic to him. But Matty is now in Leeds, and Mack doesn't stand a chance against a Dingle baby, so.
The door opens, and damn, Mack really missed this face.
“Hiya.” his voice wobbles pathetically as his emotions finally start catching up with him, “I know for a fact that you have plenty of spare room.”
A muscle in Aaron's jaw twitches, before a smile blossoms, his eyes softening in a way that almost makes Mack sway on his feet even more, because finally someone looks at him like they actually care.
“Come here.” Aaron says simply, opening his arms, and Mack falls into his embrace, exhausted and at home.
