Languid whistles, short clicks and snaps used to share memories, thoughts, feelings. Carried through the open waters through vibrations alone. A language older than the first vessel.
_______The air was stiff and rank. North blowing winds brought the stench from further down south of the Thames towards you. Biting your nose in a way that was all too familiar and yet never got any more pleasant. Even after five years of traveling the nearby waters on command of the navy. It never got any easier on the senses. If anything, it got worse with time.
