"Does it help?"
"Huh?" Joker tilts his head "What? The smoking?"
Benimaru nods slightly.
Joker inhales slowly, savoring the feeling of smoke filling his lungs. "No. Not anymore."
Joker waves the cigarette in the air, "They aren't allowed inside the Temple." He smiles wryly "I suppose I should be thankful that he couldn't snuff cigarettes out on my back."
"I heard you, that day." Benimaru states " 'Again and again, you made sure to beat that lesson into me.' " He quotes.
Joker freezes, cigarette halfway back to his lips. "That's some sharp hearing you've got."
"Do you want to know?" Joker's voice is hoarse and softer than Benimaru has ever heard it, but the offer is enough for him to snap his head to the side turning his burning gaze once more to the taller man. Joker doesn't react, his features obscured by the shadow of his hat.
"Will you tell me?" Benimaru asks softly, brows raising slightly with curiosity.

"Yes, sir."
"And stop calling me 'sir'.” he scoffed. “Captain Shinmon or just Captain. 'Sir' makes me feel old."
Despite yourself, despite your frustration and nervousness, you felt the corner of your mouth twitch. "Yes, Captain Shinmon."

Dex spoke like he had Matt all figured out, had stared into the abyss and seen a mirror.
Post DDBA S1; Dex searches for Matt after shooting him at the Gala, and finds him hiding out in an apartment across town. After breaking in, they have a conversation about what happened that night, leading to some repressed feelings coming out in the form of sex and violence.
