Before coming out to society, Cressida Cowper had female friends. Really, she did. She was congenial and pleasant to be around. Some might even say she was witty. She would interact with the polite daughters of the women of society her mother would interact with. They would play dress up and discuss the latest books read and musical instruments they had been practicing, while the adults discussed the latest events of the Ton.
Cressida liked having friends. She liked the idea of being liked by other people, even. She liked that she could make someone smile or laugh. She liked how easy these things came to her.
Everything was so easy.
