The confusion and Noel’s familiar sharpness finally stilled the world around Graham, like a face full of cold water. “I don’t understand,” Graham drawled, his palm feeling uncomfortably sticky around the phone’s plastic.
“God fucking dammit, Graham,” Noel said in a rush before lowering his voice, so that Graham surely wouldn’t have heard if he hadn’t had the receiver pressed to his ear so tightly. “A pregnancy test.”
Graham’s ears immediately began to ring. The dots appeared to him, but couldn’t completely connect. It simply didn’t seem possible, though of course he knew that wasn’t completely true.
