    Summary

"Would you like to be Captain of the Mizzen, Billy Budd?"
"Oh, yes," Billy said, nodding. "Or to be your coxswain. I'd like that, too."
He spoke without nervousness, only an appropriate and respectful shyness through which his natural cheer shone. It was as if Helios had been called down from the heavens into the stern cabin of Captain Edward Fairfax Vere.
    "Why?" Vere inquired.
"To be near you," Budd answered plainly, without shame or compunction. "I swear I would serve you well. You would be safe with me, sir."

    Summary

A day in the life of Ned Little and Georgie Hodgson, where they discover new ways to cherish themselves and each other—body and soul.
Meet Edward. He’s nothing special. At least, that’s what he believes—hardly worth talking about.

So instead let’s meet Edward’s girlfriend, Georgie. She’s gorgeous. Or, as she likes to put it, georgious. Golden hair cut into the pixie style of the ’60s actresses she adores, wide sapphire eyes, a ever-smiling face like a sunny day. All atop the tall, lithe body of a runway model. You can’t miss the moment she enters a room, standing a head above the crowd, her stance as confident as her takes on the French New Wave.

Sometimes Edward thinks her only flaw is poor judgment—or maybe poor eyesight—because he can’t fathom why she’d choose to be with him of all people. At times he’s convinced his sole purpose is to persuade Georgie she could do better. Fortunately for him, Georgie tends to have her own opinions on such matters.

    Summary

The Franklin Expedition is trapped in pack ice on their quest for the Northwest Passage. Instead of a Tuunbaq, they've brought their own monster with them. Time and reality bleed away as John Irving discovers that he is especially susceptible prey.

Or; What if a ship was a haunted house? What if a ship was a coffin? What if a ship was an abandoned church?
What if a story containing all those things was also a romance, and what if a romance didn't necessitate a happy ending, or an ending at all?

Or; John Irving is the heroine in a gothic romance/paranormal romance/harem anime. It's spooky, sentimental, and soaked in blood.

    Summary

In which the Haruspex dies at his old friend's hands, but won't leave the stage so easily.

    -

The light ended at Artemy’s chest; everything above it was darkness, no way of seeing whether he still wore that blood around his mouth or that question - Why? - in his unblinking eyes.

“You’re not here,” Stakh said, a dry murmur sticking to the roof of his mouth.

“Where else should I be?” Artemy stood too still for a man speaking, drained of all the small movements Stakh had taken for granted as part of someone alive. “Nowhere else was safe. The town was hunting me. I came looking for a friend I could count on, someone who would believe me.”
