    “I know you need to kill me,” Ponyboy said, breaking the silence. “My parents always talked about it - how I could cure people – but they started spoutin’ off scientific things I never could exactly follow – ‘bout how the enzymes need to be activated by my death. Like a death combatin’ death type thing, I guess. Your brother — Sodapop — he’s.. almost dead, isn’t he?”

    Darry swallowed, keeping his eyes straight ahead. They briefly talked about why Darry was so far from home when they first met. He didn’t expect them to stick together for so long.

    Darry left home two years ago to search for a cure for his younger brother, Soda. He stumbles upon the only person who could help him. He just needs to make a choice on who's life he should take.
