Summary
If you ask Ivan the meaning of life— it's complicated. However, his raîson d'être is simple, almost monosyllabic, unreasonably pellucid. That makes it all the more complex.
To describe something we must start with the feelings it invokes in ourselves, and then we generally categorise it into 'positive' or 'negative'.
Ivan can't even begin to describe Him.

Summary
Damian pulls out his phone and dials Richard’s number- his chauffeur has been unfortunately painstakingly instructed to answer no calls whatsoever from Damian, and Alfred has begun to pretend that phones do not exist during school hours. Unsurprisingly, as it is eight in the morning, it goes to voicemail. Damian waits impatiently for the beep. “Richard,” he says, in tones of the deeply suffering, “this place is a hostile environment. I must be collected post-haste, as after this latest indignity I am dropping out. Come at once, or I may die here.”
The dynamic duo attend a parent-teacher conference. No one has a good day.

Summary
Sua isn’t naive.
She knows how Mizi looks at her. Not the affectionate look she’s adorned since they met, but the look that slides over Mizi’s face when she thinks Sua isn’t paying attention. It’s similar to the way those Segyeins—the ones that Mother parades her in front of—look at her. Like they want to devour her. But unlike those times, it isn’t fear that causes Sua’s skin to prickle with goosebumps. And it isn’t fear that makes her bite her lip.
It isn’t fear, but it’s close enough.
Except this feeling sometimes feels more dangerous than fear.
