Someone else seems to have had the same idea as her, because there’s an figure already leaning against the railing, closer to the stairs leading into the alleyway and towards the dumpsters. He seems about her age, but in the dim light, Biana could be off by anywhere from three to thirty years. He doesn’t react, even as the door swings shut with an audible clunking noise that echoes through the alley.
Even still, Biana clears her throat. “Sorry. I don’t mean to…” she trails off, not quite sure what she is doing. “Could I sit out here for a minute? Or-”
“You’re good.” His response is short, and he doesn’t alter his gaze from where it seems to be fixed across the alleyway. It’s not exactly a warm welcome, but it’s permission at least, so Biana leans forward, ignoring the sting of the cold metal on her still warm skin.

Summary
There were a lot of ways Sophie could describe Mars. It was surreal, to be there in the first place, something close to 100 million miles from Earth. Everything from the different gravity, to the perpetually dusky sky, to sunset or sunrise, when the horizon lit with an earth-like blue. It all felt like an elaborate dream. The planet was beautiful, even with its barren landscape, and it was breathtaking every time Sophie left the HAB and saw the horizon, endless red rocks for kilometers and kilometers in the distance.

Summary
Almost a year after Jack wakes up in Montreal General Hospital, his throat impossibly dry and chest impossibly tight, the NHL sends Liam Provost, the last of the Montreal core to retire. Together, they’d won three cups in all, but after the third Bob had left, signing in Pittsburgh. Provost had been the only of the Habs to look Jack in the eyes at the funeral, to pull him into a bone crushing hug and shed a tear.
Truth be told, Jack barely remembers the game itself, the incident.

Another minute passes and Caleb still hasn’t come out, and Kent regrets his inability to say no to the kid, because he should be getting ready for the charity dinner, getting his orders of who to schmooze with from Lisa, but instead he’s stuck here, bound by his word.
Caleb isn’t a kid anymore, not really, but despite it being his third year with the team, the final season of his ELC, he still would only be able to drink legally in America come January, so he was basically a child, especially in comparison to some of the aging pillars of the Aces’ locker room.

They don’t hesitate when they’re getting started this time, and Alina is flying again, leaning most of the way out of her seat to pick up the smaller, faster competition planets. Aerin takes them first around the very outer track around the arena, gaining speed as she pilots the little ship around gentle turns. She’s clearly trying not to grin at the speed, the competition, the fun of the scrimmage. Alina wonders at it: how many people see this side of Aerin, open and unrestrained? She knows she would do anything to keep the twitch at the side of her mouth going.
