Summary
Piracy is dead, or so they say. A year on from the destruction of the Republic, Prince Ricky’s campaign to wipe out every last pirate in the Caribbean has been all but won. Against all odds, the Revenge is still sailing on, but every day it becomes harder to deny that the life Izzy has always known is crumbling around him.
Meanwhile, Ed and Stede are still safely hidden in the eye of the storm, cut off from the rest of the world by a Navy blockade. Ed is thriving in retirement, and Stede — well, Stede’s just happy that Ed is happy. And if he’s had to tell himself that more and more as the months have dragged on without any word from Izzy and the crew, that’s neither here nor there.
When the Revenge’s luck finally runs out, Izzy is forced to go to ground. Ed and Stede might be able to offer the safe harbour he needs, but is there really space for him in their new, quiet life? Does Izzy have it in him to be anything but a pirate?
(AKA, the first five days after Izzy comes back from the Revenge)

Summary
“Ed? What’s going on? Is everything alright?”
A dozen different answers fought to make it out of Ed’s mouth, a bloody battle that was finally won by, “I want to sign the ship’s articles.”
Stede blinked at him, baffled. It was pretty fucking adorable, honestly, but Ed was here on a mission. He couldn’t get distracted, “Excuse me?”

Summary
Sure, maybe it’s not the norm for a pirate captain to leave as much to their first mate as Ed does to Izzy. Maybe it’s not the norm for a pirate captain to even have a first mate. But Ed is still sure that first mates aren’t meant to talk to their captains like this. He’s even more sure that nobody is meant to talk to Blackbeard like this. That’s the whole point of the old bastard, isn’t it? Otherwise, what’s he even doing?
Something black and slippery curls in Ed’s stomach. It’s an old, familiar feeling that he’s never been able to put a name to, but it’s always demanded the same thing: loyalty. Above all else, loyalty.
Ed's been captain of the Queen Anne's Revenge for too fucking long. He has half a dozen ships sailing in his fleet, more treasure than he knows what to do with, and he couldn’t care less about any of it. It’s all Blackbeard’s, anyway, not his. Even Izzy belongs to Blackbeard, really. And if the man wants reminding of that fact sometimes? Well, Ed can do that.

Summary
“Jack says there’s a whore in town who’ll let you put your whole fist in her cunt if you pay her extra.”
“The fuck’s the use in that?”
Edward’s eyes are bright, the way they always are when something’s really captured his imagination, “Don’t you think it sounds cool? Having your entire hand in there?”
“I always thought the point of paying for a whore was to stick your dick in there,” Izzy says.
“I guess,” Edward shrugs. Then, casually, he adds, “You think your cunt could fit a whole fist?”
“For fuck’s sake, Edward.”
Izzy’s known Edward for barely a year and a half, but he’s already pretty sure he’d follow the man off a cliff if he asked. So when Edward gets an idea in his head, what is there to do but go along with it?

Summary
“You ever wish I still wore my leathers all the time?” Ed asked, breezy in the way he was when what he was saying really mattered, when the question he was asking was really a hundred other questions.
They're deep into their first winter in the cabin, and Ed is trying something new.

Summary
“I need an audience with Aubrey Gale,” Professor Shang said.
Senator Shang frowned. “You need an audience with Aubrey Gale?”
“Yes. A private one.”
The House Shang heir and senator, Professor Shang’s Apollo, pulled a face. “Why?”
“Does it matter? Come on, please? Do your strings-pulling politics thing. Tell them it’s urgent. Tell them I saw their halo results and I think they might be dying of some horrible brain problem thing.”
“I wish they were dying of some horrible brain problem thing,” the senator grumbled.
In summary: Professor Shang figures it out.

Summary
At first, it’s just an irritation. A jiggling foot from too much caffeine, or an unfortunate tic he doesn’t quite have under control. But it just gets worse, and worse, until he’s practically vibrating, every movement sending their little table rocking precariously on the wonky floor. Izzy’s pretentious craft ale sloshes in his glass — seven quid a bloody pint, they’re charging for this swill, and Izzy’s sure as hell not going to let Bonnet upend it ‘cause he can’t sit still.
Because Izzy is… well. An expert, of sorts. And in his considerable expertise, he reckons Bonnet is maybe twenty fucking minutes from pissing himself, in front of everyone he fucking knows and plenty of people he doesn’t.
*
Or: Izzy has no idea how he ends up coaching Stede through a piss kink awakening. He really has no idea how he ends up awakening a thing or two of his own to boot.

Summary
In Ed's experience, there's nothing quite so effective at snuffing out a crush than the disappointment of a mediocre roll in the hay.
So, Ed has a plan: One quick fuck to get this crush on Stede out of his system.
It's a good plan. Solid, simple, and definitely, one hundred per cent foolproof.
Right?
