“I mean it,” Robin says. “I’m no good at this. I can’t—I don’t want to do this.”
Griffin sighs. Robin feels his eyes land heavily on his face, but he keeps his gaze locked onto the gun, curved artfully into the palm of his hand. Was it made to fit so neatly, or is he the one moulding to its shape?
“It was an accident, you know,” he says, and he hopes Griffin doesn’t hear the tremble in his voice.
Griffin just scuffs his feet and sighs again. “If that’s what you want to believe,” he says, “Then sure. It was an accident.”
Days, weeks after those fatal moments in the Professor's cabin, the feeling stays the same. Robin has just killed a man, and still, the world keeps on spinning.

“Well—I don’t fuckin’ know Sug,” Richie bites out, “I’m not a doctor, and neither are you, or Syd, or this fucko.” He points at Luca, who reels back a little and blinks owlishly.
“And that fucko,” Richie continues, gesturing at Carmy, “is not exactly what I would call helpful either! He’s just sitting there with—with that fuckin’ face on his face instead of tellin’ us what’s wrong with him!”
Sydney feels a headache starting to build between her eyes. She pinches at the spot. This whole situation feels like a scene straight out of a sitcom. Or a dramedy, depending on how the rest of the episode unfolds.
“Dude,” she says to Richie, “did you seriously just quote Hereditary right now?”
In which Carmy gets a concussion, and somehow, Sydney and Richie end up having a very good talk because of it.

Marcus chews at his lip. “I think—” he says after a second, “I think I had the same feeling. Or—something similar. Like I kept thinking you’d be around, and then you weren’t.”
“Yeah,” Luca says under his breath, eyes fixed on Marcus, bright with relief. “Yeah,” he repeats. “I—I missed you.”
Marcus’s heart does something funny in his chest. It tingles, twitches a little. His face burns—a dry, radiating heat, like he’s been out in the sun for too long.
“I missed you, too,” he breathes. Luca smiles at him, warm and soft, and he’s so close. His eyes flicker across Marcus’s face, and Marcus feels a twinge of something in his stomach, all of a sudden.
Because Luca’s beautiful, like this.
He’s beautiful—and it’s terrifying.
In the span of one weekend, Luca gets sick, Marcus has a crisis, Sydney doles out some wisdom, and love unfurls delicately like a white violet in spring.

Summary
They’re about four days into their journey through the Scorch when Thomas notices it.
Newt's leg is giving him trouble.
And that's an issue—just slightly, because Newt is touchy about his leg on a good day, but now, for some reason, he seems absolutely hellbent on avoiding Thomas's help at any cost, even if it means he has to limp around in pain all day.
Thomas doesn't understand, and Newt only gives half-answers, bats him away, until he can't outrun the truth any longer.
They talk about it.

"You should leave me," Jaskier mumbles. It takes a second for Geralt to parse out the words, and when he does he feels ice chasing the potion through his veins.
"Stop fucking saying that," Geralt says, and maybe he is angry at Jaskier - not for the injury, never that, but for the idea that Geralt would consider leaving him behind. For thinking even for a second that Jaskier lying abandoned on a battlefield to die is a price Geralt could ever pay.
