“Why?” He asks again. His eyes are plastered onto her as she kneels, the soles of her shoes squeaking. “Mercy.” She says, “This is the field of your desire, Yi Sang. The Golden Bough evokes this phenomenon through ingestion. The Golden Bough absorbed your blood, as did your blood absorb the Golden Bough.” Yi Sang nods. He can’t question her logic as he has nothing else to believe. He doesn’t even question the fact that his “desire” is a complete void. There’s a thick tension between the two of them as they simply stare at one another. So much to say to each other, yet they skip the awkward pleasantries.
Instead, Yi Sang opens his mouth.
